In a remarkable double victory at the Africa Women’s Awards, Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress, and Vera Sidika emerged as winners in their respective categories.
Facing tough competition from nine actresses predominantly from Nigeria, Kate Actress secured the coveted title of Actress of the Year.
Notably the sole Kenyan nominee in the category, Kate Actress expressed her joy and gratitude to fans for their unwavering support, saying, “You’ve decided it’s a wow! wow! wow! ambulance design all year. Thank you, Fam.”
The Actress of the Year category featured formidable contenders from Nollywood, such as Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, and Eve Esin.
Concurrently, Vera Sidika claimed the Celebrity Sensation of the Year title, surpassing four Nigerian contenders. Taking a moment to express her appreciation, Vera stated, “We did it, sweethearts, celebrity sensation. Thanks to everyone who voted for me. Kenya on top.”
